NEWS FROM Mr. Starling's 4th Grade ELA & Social Studies: "Letters to Marty" Our fourth graders' effort to help Marty save Shiloh from the evil Judd

Intelligence, Dedication, Integrity, Adventurous, Awesomeness, Legendary… Only one man can possess all of these qualities: This guy.. Did I mention incredibly handsome?
I was born during the time of stonewashed jeans, fanny packs, The Terminator, and President Ronald Reagan. The Olympics were in L.A, and the first Nintendo was on the horizon. Growing up I loved watching classic cartoons like G.I. Joe and Transformers. I once sold candy to my teachers and classmates in order to purchase a video game. The principal then told me to stop. I love watching movies. Raiders of the Lost Ark is my favorite, so is The Empire Strikes Back. I didn’t read much growing up. I now read quite often…for fun! I also love to express myself in writing. It’s a great escape. I went to McBee High school and figured out that I wanted to teach for a living. I went to Clemson University for a couple of years and majored in Elementary Education, but I graduated from Coker College. I think I’ll go back to Clemson for more schooling one day. I love football. It doesn’t get better than watching Clemson on Saturdays and “Da Bears” on Sundays. That is until they lose. Obviously, I enjoy teaching. I’m very passionate about American History. I’m fascinated by the American Revolution and the formation of America. As any good teacher would do, I try to translate my love for history onto my students. I believe that it is important for students to discover where they came from, and I am very excited to be a part of that journey.
